Football/Mercato: Jesse Lingard joins Nottingham Forest

England international Jesse Lingard has signed a one-year contract with Nottingham Forest.

The 29-year-old striker has been much courted during this mercato. After West Ham and Wayne Rooney’s DC United, it is finally Nottingham who has managed to sign the English striker.

Jesse Lingard is leaving Manchester United once and for all. He was trained at the club and spent 5 years on loan at Leicester, Birmingham City, Brighton, Derby County and West Ham. He has signed freely with Nottingham Forest, at the end of his contract with the Red Devils. He will now try to participate in the return to the Premier League of his new team, after 23 years of absence.

The England international, who was rarely used last season, played 232 games for Manchester United, scoring 35 goals and winning one Europa League, one FA Cup, one League Cup and a Community Shield.

The 29-year-old striker is expected to earn a salary of around £200,000 per week.
